Looking forward to our first bartlett mitchell Barista Championship

Barista Championship

Our first bartlett mitchell Barista Championship.

Next week are the round one heats of bartlett mitchell’s first Barista Championships.

Barista’s applied from right across our business for this exciting competition.

What the Judges will be looking for.

Judges will be assessing competitors on their coffee knowledge, grinding skills, coffee machine use and milk preparation techniques. The competition is structured in three stages; an espresso course, a cappuccino course and a free style course (where competitors choose a drink from their own cafe menu to present to judges).

Why these championships are important.

We held these championships to raise the bar in our barista’s skills, it’s given us all a focus and encourages us to be the best we can be.

Holding a barista competition shows our clients, customers and wider team that serving great coffee is important to bartlett mitchell. It also provides recognition for our team members and attracts great baristas to join us.

Competitors will be able to demonstrate more than just their knowledge of coffee, judges will see their inspiration, self-confidence, motivation and dedication too.

Everyone’s a winner.

Obviously everyone wants to win the title, but all the competitors are winners in our eyes. Having the confidence to enter the competition mean our baristas gain invaluable experience; improving their barista skills, meeting other baristas, and the opportunity to get feedback from the judges – all are outstanding in their fields.

It will be nerve-wracking when judges are watching their every move, but the adrenalin will kick in and I am confident that we will see our competitors’ passion, attention to detail and love for coffee. I can’t wait. It was my ambition to hold this competition and it’s been a year’s work coming to fruition.
