Who we are

Elisabeth Ortiz Kuefler

ESG Lead

I’m passionate about driving meaningful change in how we approach sustainability at BM. As ESG Lead, my role is to shape and embed our sustainability strategy, ensuring we don’t just meet environmental and social responsibility goals—but exceed them.

I focus on implementing science-based, practical solutions that help reduce our environmental impact while creating positive social value. Collaboration is at the heart of what I do, working closely with our teams, clients, and partners to integrate sustainable thinking into everything we do.

Before joining the BM family, I studied Politics and International Studies at the University of Warwick, where I first grasped the scale of global climate challenges. This inspired me to complete a master’s in Climate Change: Environment, Science and Policy at King’s College London, where I explored the science behind climate change and the complexities of environmental policy. During my studies, I contributed to a systematic review on corporate carbon credit purchases for the Science Based Targets initiative, deepening my understanding of corporate sustainability strategies. I also gained hands-on experience in environmental campaigning and ESG strategy development, reinforcing my drive to create change in high-carbon industries like contract catering.

“I firmly believe that small, mindful changes in the way we eat can be both satisfying and impactful—proof that great food and sustainability can go hand in hand.”

Growing up in Spain, food has always been a huge part of my life, bringing people together over shared meals and experiences. Since moving to the UK, I’ve embraced plant-based eating as a way to align my personal values with my work in sustainability. At first, I thought that reducing my environmental impact might mean sacrificing the joy of good food, but working in BM has opened my eyes to just how delicious and varied sustainable cuisine can be.
