71 Miles, one purpose: A memorable ride for Hospitality Action

Hospitality Action charity cycle

“What an incredibly fun day we all had, with smiles, laughter and just a hint of sunburn and sore legs from the ride we had just completed.”

That was the feeling shared around the table at the end of an unforgettable day, as riders came together to reflect and refuel with exceptional food prepared by the team at Lainston House.

On Monday, a team of ten riders took on a challenging 71-mile charity cycle in support of Hospitality Action. Under a blazing summer sun, the day proved to be as demanding as it was rewarding, testing endurance, resilience and team spirit in equal measure.

A ride through hampshire’s finest scenery

The route led through the beautiful Hampshire countryside, where the first half of the ride set a steady but testing pace. With rising temperatures and long, undulating stretches, it was not long before fitness levels were put to the test.

Reaching the charming town of Lyndhurst marked a turning point. Spirits lifted as the halfway mark came into view, with just a few miles remaining before a well-earned break.

A warm welcome at The Pig, Brockenhurst

The halfway stop at The Pig in Brockenhurst provided the perfect setting to pause and recharge. Riders were welcomed with outstanding hospitality and delicious food, offering an opportunity to refuel, rehydrate and take a moment before tackling the more demanding second half of the journey, with an essential reapplication of sunscreen, of course.

Digging deep for the final miles

The latter stages of the ride brought increased intensity, with the heat continuing to climb and a series of steep ascents pushing both physical and mental limits.

The route through the New Forest added a unique twist, as riders carefully navigated the open roads shared with its iconic free-roaming ponies, an unforgettable highlight of the day.

Powered by team spirit

Across all 71 miles, the strength of the team was evident. Encouragement, camaraderie and determination carried everyone forward, ensuring that each rider stayed motivated through the toughest moments.

It was this shared spirit that turned a challenging ride into such a memorable experience.

Making a meaningful difference

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, the team raised over £6,300 for Hospitality Action, a charity that provides vital support to individuals across the hospitality industry.

Every mile ridden contributed to this achievement, helping to make a real and lasting impact.

A day to remember

By the end of the ride, there were definitely some tired legs, but even more so a shared sense of pride in what had been achieved.

It was a brilliant day that brought people together, pushed everyone a little further, and ultimately made a meaningful difference for a great cause.
