Celebrating apprenticeships

Food and hospitality apprenticeships

Our people are at the heart of everything we do. Supporting learning, building confidence and creating long-term careers is central to our culture. Apprenticeships play a vital role in developing skills across our food and hospitality teams.

Investing in people through apprenticeships

We’re proud to invest in our teams through the Apprenticeship Levy, using it to create meaningful learning and development opportunities. By removing financial barriers, apprenticeships enable colleagues to gain the skills, knowledge and behaviours needed to succeed within the hospitality and catering industry.

This investment isn’t just about qualifications, it’s about empowering people to grow, progress and build fulfilling careers.

Hands-on learning in food and hospitality

One of the biggest benefits of an apprenticeship is its practical, hands-on approach to learning. Development happens in real roles, in real environments, making learning relevant, engaging and immediately applicable in the workplace.

This style of learning helps build confidence quickly, allowing individuals to recognise their potential and put new skills into practice straight away.

Apprenticeship success

We currently have 35 colleagues enrolled on apprenticeship programmes, with four recent completions, an achievement we’re incredibly proud of.

Even more importantly, apprenticeships are creating real career progression. Around 60% of apprentices have been promoted or progressed into the roles they originally set out to achieve, demonstrating the impact of structured development when people are properly supported.

Developing skills, confidence and careers

Apprenticeships go far beyond gaining a qualification. They help develop:

By supporting personal growth, apprenticeships also strengthen our business, helping us build a skilled, knowledgeable and engaged team.

The role of managers in apprentice development

Managers play a crucial role in apprentice success. By encouraging learning, allowing time for development and recognising progress, they help create an environment where people feel motivated, supported and valued.

That encouragement makes a real difference, not only to results, but to how people feel about their journey and future.

Celebrating national apprenticeship week

As we mark National Apprenticeship Week, it’s the perfect opportunity to celebrate everyone involved, those currently studying, those who have completed their programmes, and the managers who support them along the way.

At its heart, this is about being a business that genuinely cares, about learning, development and giving people the tools and confidence to succeed. And that’s something we’re proud of.
