It’s been another year of great foodie adventures and growth, positive change and best of all #bmfamily love.

It’s great news that we have won a few more fantastic awards which recognise our teams and bartlett mitchell’s impact on the planet –  you really can’t ask better than that for a fabulous year.

When starting bartlett mitchell we had no clear plan as to what growth or heights we could achieve. For us it was about everyone working for a company who cares and enjoying what they did. Although work life is hard and demanding, we wanted to create an environment where everyone felt valued and enjoyed it as much as they could. We really do believe that you get out what you put in.

We have seen a step change in communication this year, with the introduction of our new communication app, Yapster.  This has proven to be the perfect platform for our teams to be able to share with us directly and vice versa.

It’s not perfect – and I’m sure there are going to be some great improvements to come, but what it has done is allow us to see what happens daily in bartlett mitchell and what the team is proud of.

We  are constantly looking at ways to improve, and more importantly, stay connected to all our team members. We want our team to know we care about what they do, and that they should be proud.

Our great team members have impacted on our ability to grow consistently through good results, and whilst we are getting larger we still have that #bmFamily feel. As we say, we are large enough to have structure and support to sustain a successful business but still small enough to care.

What 2019 will bring

2019 will bring greater challenges, plus growth and opportunities to change, enabling us to become even better. On the food front, we are looking to focus on wellbeing, vegcentric and bold breakfasts. With our teams, we will be spending the year really focusing on recruitment and retaining our very talented team members.

We want to make sure the fundamentals of great fresh food and good service are well encased in our daily practice and we will continue to ensure the teams are fully engaged, developed and trained to do the best they can.

Plastics

We also know our clients want to tackle the disposable and single plastic world. We have already taken great steps, and at least 15% of our sites have removed all disposables.

The working environment

We do believe that contract catering has a real valuable place in the business market. With the uncertainty and demand of needing to be a great place to work, a valued catering offer in a client’s business is going to make the difference between an average and a special place where the best employees really want to work.

Uncertain times

The market in the next year will be as uncertain as we have ever known, however through it we want to make sure our teams are well equipped to feel safe and secure, within their daily routine and that they feel valued, so as a #bmfamily we can weather the storm and come out stronger

So happy New Year and thank you to all our #bmfamily, clients and customers, past present and  future.

My earliest food memories are of my mum’s baking; coconut pyramid cakes were my favourite.
