Perkee at 10: always moving forward

At BM, we never stand still. And neither does Perkee.
Perkee refresh
At our AGM last week, our Head of Coffee, Graziano Moroni, shared the refreshed Perkee brand and what it represents as the coffee marks its 10th birthday. A milestone moment, but very much a line in the sand rather than a look back.
Perkee was created to bring something better into workplaces: better coffee, better sourcing, better impact. Ten years on, that ambition has only grown.
Why brands refresh (and why it matters in workplaces)
Strong brands refresh to stay relevant — they don’t wait for things to break. They refresh to stay relevant, contemporary and clear about what they stand for.
In my opinion, the best brand refreshes do three things well:
-
sharpen focus
-
reflect how a brand has matured
-
make it easier for customers to understand and engage
That’s exactly what this refresh does for Perkee. It brings clarity to a coffee offer that has grown in depth and choice. While reinforcing the confidence, quality and credibility that matter to our FM partners.
Just as importantly, it supports our bespoke approach. Different workplaces want different things from their coffee. Perkee actively flexes to meet different workplace needs without compromising on standards or values.
A decade of impact, not just good intentions
I’m incredibly proud of Perkee’s journey. I started it ten years ago alongside Wendy Bartlett MBE and Brendan O’Connell, and every year since, the impact has deepened.
We source our original Perkee coffee through the Soppexcca women’s co-operative in Nicaragua.Through Fairtrade, we’ve been able to see tangible, measurable benefits flowing back into the community.
In 2021, we also helped fundraise for the co-operative to build a biscuit factory, creating year-round income beyond the coffee harvest season. I was privileged to visit, meet the farmers and see first-hand the dedication behind every bean.
A few years later, my marketing colleague Jessica visited the same region and met young women farmers taking their first steps towards fully organic production. That sense of progress and ambition has always been part of the Perkee story.
A coffee collection with something for everyone
Perkee has evolved into a carefully curated collection, designed for clients who want to make an ethical choice without compromise.
That means offering different coffees for different priorities, while holding every option to the same high standard of quality, provenance and impact. Along the way, it has been awarded two Great Taste Awards — a first for a UK contract caterer — proving that quality and impact don’t need to be trade-offs.
Brazil Santo – Regenerative Organic Certified coffee. The aim is for the soil to be left healthier after harvesting than before, supporting long-term farming resilience.
Aponte West, our latest addition, grown by the Inga community in Colombia. The Inga are direct descendants of the Incas, the only community of their kind. By buying this coffee, we support sustainable incomes that allow their culture and community not just to continue, but to thrive.
The Perkee range is intentional. It reflects the reality of modern workplaces: different tastes, different priorities, one consistent standard of quality and ethics.
Coffee, connection and craft
Over the last ten years, I’ve learnt an enormous amount about coffee. It’s been a privilege to work alongside talented people like Graziano, Monik, Miguel and partners such as Fabio and the team at Notes, and to meet the farmers behind the supply chain.
We all enjoy a cup of coffee, and it’s easy to take it for granted. But behind every great cup is a dedicated network of farmers, growers and roasters working with skill, care and commitment to create something exceptional.
Looking ahead: the next chapter for Perkee
I’m proud to have been part of Perkee’s original creation: from its name and identity to the signage, cups, uniforms and tariff boards that bring warmth and consistency into workplace cafés across the UK.
This refresh marks the start of a very exciting next chapter. One where Perkee continues to deliver social impact, choice and quality, while supporting BM’s promise of a truly personal, bespoke service.
Here’s to the next ten years of Perkee.
