Proud to be in 2025

pride

As June arrives, cities across the world prepare for the vibrant, joyful celebrations that mark Pride Month. At first glance, the parades, flags, and festivities might seem like a celebration of progress, and in many ways, they are. But as we pause to reflect, it’s important to remember that Pride is more than just a celebration. It is still very much a necessity.

At its core, Pride is about the visibility and dignity of queer individuals. As well as allies demonstrating solidarity with them. Many parts of the world have made progress, but the journey toward full acceptance and equality is far from over.

We are proud that our teams are made up of people from different backgrounds, and all around the world. For this reason, Pride is a deeply personal celebration for some of our team members, who might not be able to celebrate in their home countries.

Progress in some places, but not everywhere

In countries like the UK, laws protecting LGBTQIA+ rights have changed significantly over recent years. Same-sex marriage is legal, workplace protections are in place. Queer representation in media and leadership continues to grow, in some industries more than others. These are milestones worth celebrating, but it’s important to remember that not all can benefit from them, and progress isn’t always linear.

Many queer people here and across the globe still face legal discrimination, social stigma, and even violence. In some countries, simply expressing one’s identity openly can lead to imprisonment.

For many, Pride isn’t just a joyous parade, it’s a powerful reminder that they are seen, valued, and supported across the world. Celebrating Pride is not just celebrating those who can live openly; it’s standing in solidarity with those who cannot.

A reflection of our values

In the catering and hospitality sector teamwork, inclusion, and respect are the foundation of great service. We know that our team members are at their best when they can bring their whole selves to work. As an incredibly diverse organisation, we are committed to creating a workplace that is safe, respectful, and inclusive for everyone. Regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity.Celebrating Pride is a way of affirming this commitment. It sends a message: you belong here. Whether you’re out and proud, just beginning to explore your identity, or living with the reality of needing to hide your identity, we see you!

Why it’s not just Pride Month

While the month of June gives us a moment to focus our attention, inclusion is not just something that comes by every 12 months. It’s about the everyday actions we take. Listening with empathy, challenging bias, and creating policies that protect and uplift everyone. At a time when acceptance varies widely across the globe, our responsibility as a company is to foster belonging wherever we operate.

So this June, we are celebrating how far we’ve come but also recognising why we still need Pride.
