Who we are
Sally Grimes
Quality Standards Manager
Great food and great service, safely. That’s my mantra. I’m here to help everyone at BM remember safety in everything they do.
Working with our external safety consultants, I ensure we tick all the legislative and procedural boxes. But more importantly, I make sure our teams understand the reasons for the regulations and see how they’re relevant to their jobs. I think that makes the rules much easier to follow.
Sustainability is another aspect of my role. Along with colleagues across the business, I’m always looking for new ways to reduce our carbon impact – wherever we can, in any of our operations. I get a real buzz from being part of our efforts to protect the environment. And that’s after more than two decades here; I joined BM in 2002, which makes me one of the longest-serving team members.
I’ve worked in hospitality for even longer – over 40 years, mostly in operational roles. So I see myself as a caterer at heart. For me, that means being in a team that loves a challenge, serving delicious food to the highest standards, come what may!
It’s funny to think how it all started with fish and chips. My first experience of eating out and being served by a waitress was at Steels Cornerhouse Restaurant in Cleethorpes, where my parents regularly took us as a family for traditional fish and chips. I remember the food was fabulous – and the restaurant’s still there, some 50 years later. When I visit now, I like to sit on the promenade wall, clasping a bag of chips and thinking back to all those wonderful moments with my family – the laughter, the love, and the overpowering aroma of malt vinegar!
