As #StressAwarenessMonth starts I thought I would share my top 5 tips to help you manage your stress levels:

1)¬†¬†Plan¬†your¬†meals.ūüĖäÔłŹ
It’s¬†been¬†found¬†that¬†planning¬†your¬†weekly¬†meals,improves¬†the¬†nutritional¬†quality¬†and¬†variety¬†of¬†food¬†you consume.¬†Further¬†to¬†this,¬†you¬†are¬†less¬†likely¬†to consume¬†energy-dense¬†foods¬†that¬†are¬†high¬†in¬†fat, sugar,¬†and¬†fat.

2)¬†Try¬†not¬†to¬†skip¬†meals.¬†‚õĒ
Consuming regular meals helps maintain your energy levels as well as your mood Рpreventing you over eating at your next meal time.

3)¬†Keep¬†healthy¬†snacks¬†at¬†the¬†ready¬†ūüćŅ
To prevent snacking on energy-dense foods, have healthy snacks in the cupboard for times when you feel peckish. Try and opt for foods with wholegrain, fruit, or unsalted nuts!

4)¬†Do¬†something¬†you¬†enjoy!ūü§©
This could be listening to a podcast or music, meeting up with a friend, or reading a book. Doing things we enjoy helps us relax and feel better!
Don’t¬†forget¬†to¬†do¬†things¬†for¬†yourself –¬†you¬†are important¬†too!

5)¬†Exercise¬†ūüŹĎ‚öĹ
This¬†doesn’t¬†have¬†to¬†be¬†strenuous,¬†maybe¬†a¬†simple walk¬†in¬†the¬†park¬†(get¬†some¬†extra¬†Vitamin¬†D, if¬†it’s¬†a¬†nice sunny¬†day).¬†Exercise¬†has¬†been¬†proven¬†to¬†release endorphins¬†which¬†are known as¬†‘Happy¬†Hormones’, improving¬†our¬†mood¬†and¬†helping¬†to¬†relieve¬†stress.
