I volunteer with Surrey search and rescue. Our role, 365 days a year, 24 hours a day is to work with Surrey and Hampshire police and other emergency services to assist and indeed take control of a search for a missing, vulnerable person.
This is in any weather, any time. We have dog units, drone and a boat team, all run by volunteers and funded by donations. On average we receive 100 call outs per year, Surrey is one of the busiest rescue teams in the country.
